We also discuss what you can do if the oils do not\nseem to be enough to help you get rest you need to feel your best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lavender<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A study in Connecticut found that participants who inhaled\nlavender at night experienced more slow-wave sleep, which is essential for relaxing\nthe muscles and slowing the heartbeat. The study participants also reported\nfeeling more energized after sleeping in a lavender-scented room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cedarwood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is commonly believed that cedarwood plays a role in fighting\nnegative emotions, which may help individuals with anxiety to sleep better. It\neven triggers the release of serotonin, which eventually converts into\nmelatonin \u2014 the hormone that is responsible for regulating sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bergamot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you inhale bergamot, it may slow your heartrate and\nyour blood pressure, thus preparing your body for sleep. It may also help to\nlower anxiety and stress levels. There is even evidence to suggest that it has\nanti-inflammatory properties, which may help to ease various aches and pains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Roman Chamomile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Roman chamomile works on the same part of the brain as\nanti-anxiety drugs. It may help to ease negative emotions and even act as a\nmild tranquilizer. In fact, in one study with 60 elderly participants, the ones\nwho ingested chamomile extracted enjoyed significantly higher-quality sleep\nthan those who took the placebo. Inhaling chamomile might have a similar\neffect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Neroli<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When neroli is used in combination with lavender and\nchamomile, it can contribute to a tranquilizing effect. It may also contribute\nto lucid dreaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ylang-Ylang<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is believed that ylang-ylang can help individuals to\nrelease negative emotions that may interrupt sleep. For the best effects, you\nmight try combining it with a few of the other oils listed in this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What If the Oils Do Not Work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If aromatherapy does not seem to be doing anything to\nimprove the quality of your sleep, it may be in your best interests to seek\nadvice from a medical professional.
